Let your shoulders be free
I prefer treats over tricks when Halloween rolls around, but sometimes in certain circumstances, a trick can offer a sweet reprieve from unnecessary tension. Sometimes you just need to know where the magic is, especially when you only have a couple of minutes to spare.
Just the other day I was feeling a bit of tension around my shoulders… can you relate? It was one of those moments while I was focusing intently and I thought, “oh, how nice it would be to get a massage!” With limited time and some necessary work to complete, I got up and did this (read below and follow the link). This little treat helps soften and release some tension around the neck and shoulders to keep me going. I call it the arm toss. It’s a really simple “trick” to help you get on with your day when all you have time for is a couple of deep breaths, which are also quite helpful! 😉
Here’s what you do:
Stand with your right foot in front of your left foot about 12 inches apart. Knees slightly bent and soft. Feel the weight of you stable and rooted to the floor. Then be sure to allow a couple of deeps breaths. Now, simply toss your left arm up in the air and then let it dangle as it returns to your side. Do this 3 – 5 x’s in each direction – forward and backward as you toss it. Take a moment and bring your feet back under your body. How does the left shoulder feel? Now do the same thing on the other side. Be sure to switch feet. Do you notice a bit of extra space around your shoulders now? Nice, right! Now just do some head rolls and your good!

Happy Halloween!
