Wellness Wednesday
When it comes to wellness, your mid line can help you stay sane in a very chaotic world. The mid line of the body helps you stay aligned in your every move both in pilates and in your day to day activities. This actually has an impact on your state of mind, too!
What is the mid line?
Basically the area just in front of the spine. From the crown of the head down through your tail bone. When you’re standing balanced over both feet equally, you are aligned through your center.
Being centered is powerful – offering a sense of gravitas in your practice of pilates and your life.
Every movement can begin from this central axis. Being centered helps your practice with all that rolling through the spine that we do… Rolling up, rolling over, rolling like a ball, etc. this keeps us connected to our core support. We move from one end to the other continuously, back and forward, through rotation, and side bending, too. This movement ultimately begins from the crown and moves down to the tail and back up again. Even if you’re unable to move your spine through flexion or extension due to injury or surgery… you can still think and move from the impression of the length between these 2 points. When it comes to something as simple as our day to day activities, e.g.:walking, driving, standing up and sitting down, etc. we can also find that central axis as we move about our day. The more we tune into this channel of support the more relaxed and comfortable we feel.
Imagine this – You’re like a bamboo stalk standing tall rooted to the earth and also ascending into the sky, the energy moves through that hollow center and offers strength and flexibility to move with the wind. That’s you! Returning back to this location inside of yourself can be incredibly supportive.
Connect to this rich resource inside of yourself often. There is much available for you here.
