Circling through

Your body is meant to twist, turn, roll, bend, circle, spiral and more. Moving in a myriad ways offers a welcome change toward your health and well being.  You might forget this given your tendency to get hooked into scrolling through your mobile phone, ipad or tablet. Our daily sedentary activities are costly. They rob us of our innate ability to keep our bodies functioning optimally. This can be altered with a regular practice of moving your body like doing pilates or dance.

This is a simple way to circle through when you find yourself needing movement and you can’t get to class soon enough. It feels really good, too! Enjoy!

Here’s what you do: (check out the video for further guidance)

Start with a full breath and knees soft.

Begin by only circling your hips… do this 3 times in each direction.

Then continue moving up the body, next circling your chest… do this 3 times in each direction.

Then move up the body to circling your head… do this 3 times in each direction.

Then mix it up… move all 3 parts together or separately, circling or other movement a few times in whatever way feels good.

Finish by returning to a pause with a deep breath.
