The timing couldn’t be better. When Thanksgiving rolls around and we celebrate and circulate gratitude with our families, friends and communities, I’m inspired by how expressing gratitude can promote our health and our lives.
Do any of these sound familiar? You’re running errands, checking off your to do list when someone holds the door open for you at the bank. When driving, you’re at a stop sign and another driver lets you have the right of way to make a left turn. After cooking, your honey does the dishes. A friend calls, just to say hi. At first glance these seemingly simple moments don’t appear to mean much but what if you add them up? What comes to mind? Yeah, gratitude.
Ask yourself: what brief interludes have I experienced that might bring gratitude into my life? I don’t know about you but for me when I think of these moments my faith in what’s possible is restored. These kind unexpected moments sprinkle our day. How we respond to them can leave a profound impact. With a smile and gratefulness we are carried into a different state of being. Whether we are giving or receiving, there are copious benefits to each.
When you find a place for gratitude in even the smallest ways, you leave room for a different possibility. Research shows that being thankful on a regular basis can have a direct positive impact on our health and attitude. In these challenging, frustrating and uncertain times accessing every opportunity to support our wellness is a welcome addition! It sounds simple. Can kindness and gratitude really change your perspective? Hmm.
Then there’s you
With all this talk of gratitude, I’d like to take a moment and acknowledge you for being here. Thanks for reading this. Thanks for being interested. I hope it inspires you to take care of yourself even in the smallest ways. Drinking more water. Remembering to stretch and move. Keeping up with your pilates exercise or other movement practice. Eating organic nourishing food. Getting out into the fresh air even for a little while (I know that’s not as inviting when it’s cold!) Being kind and grateful to others AND to yourself. You’d be amazed at how the smallest positive choices lead to amazing possibilities and results. I’ve seen it in my own life and through the hundreds of people I’ve worked with over the years. Try it out and let me know what you experience. I’d love to hear.
